You can certainly call 2020 a milestone year for Emplicity. It has been a year of unprecedented change, but also a big year to celebrate as October 18th, 2020 marks Emplicity’s 25th Anniversary. Founded in 1995 on the principle of making employee management simple, the California-based Professional Employer Organization (PEO) simplifies human resources.
Prior to establishing Emplicity, Founder Vic Tanon provided payroll and tax filing services primarily to the small businesses in the industrial corridor of South El Monte. As a district manager for a national payroll service bureau, Tanon saw an opportunity to provide all local small-to-medium size businesses with administrative services that could mitigate employer liability and help companies save money on worker’s compensation insurance.
After 7 years in business, Tanon rebadged his company to “Emplicity,” (a combination of the words “Employer” and “Simplicity”) after noticing a common theme frustrating the business owners that he talked to; they were all struggling under the increasing demands of human resources, paperwork, and ever-changing labor regulations. Since that day, Emplicity has grown to service over 300 business with over 8,500 employees. “It’s pretty mind-blowing to think that 25 years ago it was just an idea,” Mr. Tanon remarked, as he commemorated the day.
